Self Help BooksHave you ever meandered through the book store, winding up in the self-improvement section? Did you feel overwhelmed by the myriad of titles, all promising to hold the secrets to an amazing life?

Perhaps one of these books does have something that could be useful to you. Which one?

The fact that you’re looking may put you in a growing group of people who are seeking something more  – a spiritual approach to life, stepping beyond religion for a life that fulfills us in a way that may have been lacking, no matter our religious affiliation or lack of it. There may be some hints in the books but the answers have been right inside you, just waiting to be discovered!

My own personal experience started with a sense of a ‘higher power’ in my life. I refer to that power as God, while others are comfortable with Spirit, Power or something similar. For me, it’s about how I live my life today, shifting my focus from self, to serving others. Amazingly I became comfortable in my own skin

In 1993, I changed my eating habits and lost over 100 pounds. Since that was not the first large weight loss of my eating career, I knew that something would have to change if I were to maintain the size 10, once and for all. Trust God and Buy Broccoli, A Spiritual Approach to Weight Loss tells the story of how I began eating in a more spiritual way – I no longer feel deprived by what I choose not to eat. Selecting healthy, delicious alternatives which contribute to a healthy lifestyle is far more spiritually satisfying!

My life-shifts are not really remarkable, but the results are. Over the next few days, I would like to share some things I’ve learned that have contributed to my own shift. Perhaps you’ll find something that will cause a spiritual shift for you too.  I’d like to give away a signed copy of Trust God and Buy Broccoli to one of you. Read my blog this week and comment – share your spiritual experiences and you may be the lucky person to get the book!
